After the war, he married the love of his life, Wanda Lorene Hill, on September 26, 1950. Sheron was born August 9, 1954 in Comanche, to Norman and Rosie Roden. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, yardwork, woodworking, and sewing. Jessie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Marlow, where he assisted Rev. Lynn Parkhurst as song leader for the church worship services, as well as worship services in many of the nursing homes in the area.
